WELCOME TO THE NURSE'S CLINIC

Before becoming the school nurse at Spalding High School, I worked for "thirty-something" years in a variety of health care settings. My goal for our students is to help them optimize their learning experience by staying as healthy as possible. The office of the school nurse doesn't just hand out bandaids (although those are certainly available!) Injuries will find the student and me looking over the medical charts of the musculoskeletal and nervous systems to see how an injury occurs and how other parts of the body will respond. Headaches and stomach aches are evaluated and discussed so that the student understands more about what makes us sick and how we can address the symptoms. Mental health issues across the spectrum are similarly examined by the student, me, and sometimes a mental health professional so that the student can access the best care for themselves. And sometimes students just want a cup of tea, bag of ice, a dose of their prescribed medications, or information on a variety of health topics. It's a very dynamic office where I love working with our students.
